In Fiscal Year 2023, the Department of the Air Force became the first Military Department to successfully remediate & fully close the Fund Balance with Treasury material weakness for our General Fund. Our teams tackled some of the Department’s biggest challenges during our sixth full financial statement audit cycle, addressing the root causes of deficiencies in critical areas like Military Equipment and Access Controls and more importantly, achieving major milestones that set the Department up for continued success in the coming years. One such example is improving the Defense Enterprise Accounting and Management System (DEAMS) SOC-1 report from an adverse opinion to a modified.
