Super Size Me filmmaker Morgan Spurlock's ex-wives — Sara Bernstein andAlex Jamieson — have paid tribute to him following his shock death at age 53.
Spurlock died last Thursday, as confirmed by his family, from complications from cancer, which he'd been battling privately.
He had finalized his divorce fromBernstein shortly before his death and three years after their March 2021 filing. The former couple wed in 2016 and share eight-year-old son Kallen.
On Sunday,Bernstein thanked the public for their 'love and support' and called Spurlock the 'best daddy ever.'
She included a sweet throwback photo ofSpurlock holding a then-baby Kallen while also cuddling up with his andJamieson's son Laken, now 17.

'Thank you for all the love and support the past few days. We so appreciate it,'Bernstein began. 'As Kallen said to me 'Morgan was the best daddy ever and we will love and miss him forever and ever.''
She then encouraged those who 'wish to honor Morgan' to donate toHope Lodge NYC — a non-profit that offers free housing to cancer patients.
'Lots of love to you all,'Bernstein concluded.
That same day,Spurlock's ex-wifeAlex Jamieson — whom he was married to from 2006 to 2011 — shared an emotional Instagram tribute.
'Oh my … it's impossible to put into words what you meant to your family, to your boys, friends, film community… to me. I'm just so glad we were friends in the end,' she began.
'Morgan was a generous, creative, dedicated human. He LOVED his friends and boys. When he got into something he dove in heart first, with his body and soul.'
She continued: 'Morgan LOVED to dance. And laugh. And tell stories. And encourage others, too…Morgan SHOWED UP for people.
Jamieson then gave insight on their post-divorce relationship and how Spurlock has supported her over the years.
'He came to EVERY art show I curated, helped me think through projects, even after we had both remarried. He was one of the FIRST to order my Abortion Trading Cards.

Jamieson, who famously worked with Spurlock on the2004 documentary film Super Size Me, said that her and Spurlock always agreed that 'our son Laken was our proudest co-creation.
'Even when we weren't getting along, we would come together to celebrate and laugh about our amazing boy and how he was growing up to be kind, funny, creative.
'I miss you dearly, friend. I didn't know it would hurt so much. Rest now,' the activist concluded.
Along with her thoughtful words, the mother-of-one shared a footage montage that included throwback photos of Spurlock with his son, celebrities as well as photos of himself andJamieson on the Super Size Me promo trail in the early 2000s.
Spurlock's family announced his death on Friday in a statement.
They did not specify what type of cancer he was battling, or when he was diagnosed. He has been undergoing chemotherapy prior to his death.
Spurlock won an Oscar nomination for his groundbreaking 2004 documentary Super Size Me. He ate McDonald's for 30 days to test what the effects on his body would be.
The outcome was shocking; he gained 24lbs and his liver ballooned.
The film made $20million around the world and kickstarted a fresh-food revolution in the fast food industry.

Spurlock was skeptical about how much real change had actually been made when asked about the issue in 2019.
'There has been this massive shift and people say to me, 'So has the food gotten healthier?' And I say, 'Well, the marketing sure has,' he said.
'It was a sad day, as we said goodbye to my brother Morgan,' Craig Spurlock, who worked with him on several projects, in the statement.
'Morgan gave so much through his art, ideas, and generosity. The world has lost a true creative genius and a special man.
'I am so proud to have worked together with him.'
Spurlock also directed the 2013One Directiondocumentary/concert film One Direction: This Is Us.
The West Virginia native produced nearly 70 documentaries through his production company Warrior Poet.
The follow-up film to Super Size Me, 'Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken!' was removed from the 2017 Sundance Film Festival after Spurlock admitted to sexual misconduct.
Spurlock said he was accused of rapewhile in college, settled a sexual harassment case with a female assistant at his office, and was unfaithful to all of his wives and girlfriends.

His physical and mental health rapidly declined, and he gained 24.5 pounds by the end of the experiment
'For me, there was a moment of kind of realization — as somebody who is a truth-teller and somebody who has made it a point of trying to do what's right — of recognizing that I could do better in my own life. We should be able to admit we were wrong,' he told the AP.
Spurlock immediately stepped down from Warrior Poets, the production company he co-founded.
'Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken!' was released two years later.
Spurlock was a gonzo-like filmmaker who leaned into the bizarre and ridiculous. His stylistic touches included zippy graphics and amusing music, blending a Michael Moore-ish camera-in-your-face style with his own sense of humor and pathos.
Since he exposed the fast-food and chicken industries, there was an explosion in restaurants stressing freshness, artisanal methods, farm-to-table goodness and ethically sourced ingredients. But nutritionally not much has changed.

The filmmaker is survived by two sons, his parents and former spousesAlexandra Jamieson and Sara Bernstein.
