Lunar New Year
. In 2024, Chinese New Year festivities will begin from 10th February. All over the world, Chinese New Year is a time-honored tradition and holds great cultural significance for the Chinese diaspora.
According to Chinese tradition, the year 2024 is the year of the wood dragon which will commence from 10th February. The years 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, and 2024 are lucky years. Those born in the Dragon years are considered to be charismatic and independent. When Dragon’s Yang energy is aligned with the Yin energy of the Earth, it signifies great opportunities for growth, success, and abundance.
This auspicious occasion begins with festive preparations that typically begin with the famous Lantern Festival. Bright illuminated lanterns are displayed up in the sky usually on the fifteenth day of the Lunar New Year. Families gather together to host a reunion dinner featuring an elaborate Chinese meal menu. It is a time to seek blessings from ancestors and deities.
