HOW TO MAKE THIS LOW CARB PIZZA CRUST

(Full instructions in Recipe Card below)

First you'll want to take the eggs out of the fridge prior to getting started.

I'll usually just put them in a bowl of warm water to bring them up to room temperature.

Then start by whisking together the flour, seasonings and baking powder. Make sure you mix well and don't leave any clumps of flour.

In a small separate bowl beat the eggs and add them to the flour mixture along with the parmesan cheese and water.

Mix everything together well. I like to use a spatula to make sure I get everything incorporated into the dough from the sides of the bowl

Place the dough on a parchment paper and shape into the pizza style you prefer!

Bake in preheated oven.

CAN I MAKE THIS CRUST AHEAD

Yes! You can easily make the crust ahead, bake and allow to cool. Then store in the fridge covered for 2-3 days.

For longer storage you can freeze crust in freezer safe bag or container for up to 3 months.

I am about to put my dough in my pizza pan, but it seems the texture of mashed potatoes and I followed the recipe to the tee. Is it supposed to be like that?

      Reply

      • Stephanie

It should not be the texture of mashed potatoes! If the dough is too wet you can try adding more coconut flour till you get the desired consistency or if too thick gradually add a little more water.

Hello! Have you had any luck using nutritional yeast in place of the cheese? Thanks!

    • Stephanie

Hi Stacy, I haven't tested the recipe using nutritional yeast so I can't say for sure. I think it would probably work out fine as a substitute for the cheese. Let me know if you give it a try!

what heck was that? I followed the dieections and that did not work out! it was so runny !

    • Stephanie

Hi Sara, not sure exactly why it didn't work out for you. Possibly you didn't use enough flour or get it mixed together thoroughly. Let me know if you'd like help troubleshooting the recipe.

Why is my dough so runny?
6 TBS flour is very less for 4 eggs

    • Stephanie

Did you allow the dough to rest several minutes before spreading it out? Coconut flour is very absorbent so you don't need a lot of it. You can always add more, a little bit at a time till you get the right consistency.

I have not made this recipe yet but am anxious to try it this week as I have so much coconut flour but I was curious. For freezing the crust for later is the crust pre-cooked or uncooked? And does this make 1 small personal sized pizza or 1 large pizza?

    Reply

    • Stephanie

Hi Kelsey, I recommend pre-cooking the crust before freezing it! This makes one regular sized pizza. Hope this helps.

Have you ever tried using yeast in your recipe for making bread ? My mom is a big home made bread maker and I would like her to try to get her to use coconut flour but have no proven tips for her . Sure would value your input. You have some great recipes keep up the great work.

    • Stephanie

Hi Robert, Thanks for the kind words! 🥰 And I typically don't use yeast in any of my recipes. I generally like to keep them as simple as possible. Have you tried this coconut flour pizza crust recipe yet? It's really simple to make and comes together quickly. This is one of my go to recipes for pizza crust. I have some other recipes that incorporate coconut flour as well, if you want to check those out. Let me know if you give this a try.

Yes love it . It’s now a weekly staple with me and my son. Having to cut out the carbs makes it hard to find replacements for my sons favorite foods . He enjoys your pizza to any other hands down because we can make it together. Thanks and keep up the good work. Best of Wishes . Austin and Rob

Yay! Glad you guys have been enjoying the pizza crust and you're very welcome! 😉😘

Can this dough be made and stored in the refrigerator (uncooked) fo A couple of days?

    Reply

    • Stephanie

Hi Regina, I usually make the uncooked crust and store it covered in the fridge until ready to bake or grill. I cook it the same day, so I can't say for sure how that would work without testing it. Let me know if you give it a try.

Hi. I really look the look of this recipe and have everything to make it. Is the cals and carbs etc for one slice or the pizza itself. I’m trying to stay low on carbs and there’s no way I could just have one slice ha ha. Pizza is my fav and this looks like a gr8 alternative.

      • Stephanie

Thanks Becca and yes the calories and carbs are for one slice of pizza! Let me know if you give it a try.

Hello Stephanie, thanks for sharng tris amazing recipe!

I was wondering , is 6 tb spoons is correct?

I tried making it, but it was very watery

I dont know if im missing something

    Reply

    • Stephanie

Hi Maria, yes 6 tbsp. of coconut flour is correct. Are you letting the dough sit for several minutes after mixing it altogether? Also make sure you scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula to incorporate everything. The dough should be a little damp(wet) but not watery. Once you spread it out on parchment paper you can easily cook it on a preheated pizza stone in the oven or I've cooked it on the gas grill with great results. Hope this helps and let me know how it works out for you!

Can another type of cheese be used for the crust?

      • Stephanie

Hi Claudia, you can use any kind of cheese you like or even leave out the cheese altogether. I've made it lots of times without even adding cheese.

    • Lisa

Probably didn't hard packl it, as that gets more flour in the measurement that way.

      Reply

      • Stephanie

Yes it does Lisa.. And you want to make sure to have 6 packed tablespoons and let the dough rest before spreading out for best results.
